Headache from Coughing Treatment

5/5 (2)

A headache from coughing is a headache caused by coughing. There are other types that make your body feel tense like bowel movements, bending, singing, crying, laughing, blowing nose, and sneezing. This disease has two categories namely primary and secondary. Primary is a harmless disease and cured without treatment. The secondary is a serious disease caused by problems in the brain. The secondary disease requires surgery.

Symptoms

This cough starts suddenly and strains after a cough. A cough lasts for a few seconds and cough can last up to two hours. The patient will feel a sharp cough, piercing, and sharp pain. This can affect the back of your head. Maybe you should experience pain for hours. This is the primary symptom.

The secondary symptoms are similar to a primary cough. You will experience dizziness and headache within a few hours. You can also faint from this disease.

When to See Doctor

You should consult your doctor when these symptoms are disturbing you. Your head feels heavy and you have double vision. If you experience a sudden headache, then you should see a doctor.

Cause

Primary symptoms are caused by an unknown primary cough. Secondary symptoms are caused by a defect in the skull. Small brain serves to control the balance. This can be caused when part of the brain is forced to open the foramen magnum or the base of the skull. This is the spinal cord. These symptoms can also be caused due to cerebral aneurysms. This disease can be caused by brain tumors and leakage of fluid present in the spontaneous cerebrospinal. A headache from coughing can cause severe symptoms and you should go to a doctor.

Risk Factors

There are several risk factors that cause this disease. The first factor is age. This disease can affect people older than 40 years. Men are more susceptible to this disease than women.

Prevention

You can take precautions that can trigger this disease. You should treat bronchitis or lung infections. You should also avoid drugs that have cough side effects. You can go to the clinic to request a flu shot. You can take stool softeners to prevent constipation.

Diagnosis

Maybe your doctor can recommend CT scan or MRI. This is used to rule out the cause of other headaches that attack your body. MRI uses audio waves and magnetic fields to produce transverse images that exist in your head structure and can cause this disease. CT scan is a scan performed using a computer.

Treatment

This disease has a different way of treatment. Your doctor may advise you to take medication every day so that the medication can reduce and prevent pain. You can take Acetazolamide, Propranolol, and Indomethacin to treat a headache from coughing.
