Diet is a way to lose weight. Indeed, to get maximum results must be done regularly and correctly. For example, like the mayr diet that managed to lose weight to the star of the film Pitch Perfect, Rebel Wilson as much as 18 kg.
What is Mayr Method Diet?
The mayr diet is a method of losing weight with a focus on gut health and full awareness when eating. So no wonder the main condition of this diet is a good digestive system. That way the mayr diet can lose weight because the whole body will be healthy with healthy digestion as well. This diet method was invented by Franz Xaver Mayr, an Austrian health expert in the 1920s. This diet has been known for almost 100 years.
How to do the mayr method diet
Dr. Maximilian Schubert, medical director of VivaMayr, the health clinic that promotes this diet suggests starting the Mayr diet with fasting for a few days. After that, continued with a diet that limits the consumption of certain foods.
In general, the first step is always slow and limiting diet, to really calm the body system, eat wisely.
This diet also involves the detoxification process by taking vitamins or supplements to minimize side effects as long as the ‘toxins’ come out of the body system. Usually mayr dieters will feel headaches, nausea, stomach cramps and fatigue.
The condition usually lasts for three or four days. But after passing that phase, it is claimed that the body would recover and be healthy.
Mayr Method Diet Rules
Eat slowly and chew 40 times
Eliminating distractions and focusing more on the eating experience can be a good thing, according to Bonnie Taub-Dix, a registered dietitian nutritionist and author of Read It Before You Eat It – Taking You from Label to Table.
Eating slowly helps you better appreciate the taste and texture of your food. This can make you feel more satisfied with your food, and less likely to overeat.
Mayr’s method goes a step further, recommending that dieters chew each bite of food, at least 40 times to slow down the eating process and promote better digestion. But, it is not necessary and will most likely be annoying.
Consumption of foods high in alkaline
Mayr’s method claims eating foods like fruits and vegetables can help you lose weight by balancing your body’s pH level.
There’s no evidence that this is true. Alkaline diets have previously been disproved because the body regulates pH levels naturally, and no combination of foods can change that.
Swapping processed foods, sugary foods, and red meats and replacing them with whole plant foods can help you lose weight because it can lower calories while increasing the nutrients you consume.
Stop dairy products and gluten
Unless you’re sensitive to lactose (the sugar in dairy products) or gluten, there’s no inherent benefit to weight loss if you cut back on cheese, bread, and similar foods.
In fact, some of these foods can be beneficial for dieters. Whole grains, for example, can help you feel fuller after a meal, and cheese adds flavor, both of which provide more satisfaction.
No snacking between meals
Experts are diverse about this one, as it is very dependent on the person.
Detoxification of sugar
Reducing added sugar is a wise weight loss strategy, reducing calorie sources without the nutrients that tend not to be too filling.
“Detox” is a scientific term that sounds more effective than it really is. And sugar isn’t always bad, especially natural sources of sugar like fruit that are also loaded with nutrients.
Stop caffeine
There is some evidence to suggest that caffeine in the form of coffee and tea can benefit your body’s metabolism. There is no evidence that reducing it can speed up weight loss, so this becomes an unnecessary restriction for people who enjoy the drink.
The exception is if you usually get caffeine in the form of soda or sweetened coffee drinks, or have a snacking habit at the same time.
Do not drink water when eating or eating raw food after 4 p.m.
In fact, the truth is quite the opposite. It recommends sipping water or other healthy drinks between bites to help slow down your mealtimes.
And there’s no evidence to suggest there’s anything wrong with eating fruits, raw vegetables, and similar foods later in life, for digestion or other reasons.
Eat big at breakfast and eat small at night.
There is some evidence that eating in the morning can provide little benefit to your metabolism.
And if you consume most of the calories at night, you may benefit from spreading them out a little more throughout the day.
