An abscessed tooth is commonly known as infection between tooth and gums. The virus produces pus, and it is excruciating. It keeps on expanding if not treated and can result in dental disorder. The leading causes of an abscessed tooth are chipped tooth and gingivitis (gum diseases). Mostly, affected from abscessed tooth are in their late thirties. Effective home remedies for abscess tooth
Although it is appropriate to consult a dentist for proper treatment of abscessed tooth, there are couple home remedies that can aid in soothing the pain and discomfort.
Clove
The oil present in clove possesses natural antibiotic that works against infection as well as eliminates a toothache. Clove oil can be consumed as a first aid to ease the discomfort, pain and minimize the infection. It also numbs the gums, attributed to the presence of Eugenol. It makes the affected area senseless to the extent that pain sensations are not felt. It is also used to cure pain in filling cavities due to its anesthetic, antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties.
For consumption, mix one teaspoon of clove powder with equal amount of water and make a paste. Apply the paste on the affected tooth for twenty minutes and then rinse. Instead pf raw clove powder, clove oil can also be applied as well. Soak a piece of cotton in the oil and place it over the infected tooth for fifteen minutes.
Garlic
Garlic possesses antibiotic properties, and it works effectively for abscess tooth. Owing to its anti-inflammatory properties, garlic will minimize the inflammation. The anesthetic abilities will minimize pain sensations.
For consumption, crush a garlic clove into the paste. Apply it directly to the infected area. Keep it for fifteen minutes and then rinse. In another mode, mix equal amounts of garlic paste and clove it and apply it for twenty minutes. Rinse with water.
Turmeric and Salt
Turmeric is a natural antibiotic and is very effective for oral care. The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory nature minimizes tooth pain and inflation of Gums. Salt is a disinfectant in nature. It reduces the inflammation as well as eases the pain but also impede the infection.
For the application, mix 2:1 portions of turmeric with salt and add one teaspoon of clove oil to make it thick. Apply the paste for thirty minutes and spit it out. Apply it after every three hours to cure an infection.
Roasted Turmeric
One of the best Ayurvedic remedies for abscess tooth is curcumin-rich turmeric. The curcumin makes the turmeric yellow in color and antibiotic. It reduces the growth of bacteria and minimizes pain and inflammation.
For consumption used three turmeric roots and fried them for ten minutes. Once they are fried, make them into a fine powder. Add two teaspoon of water and make it a thick paste. Apply it for thirty minutes. Alternatively, turmeric can be consumed as mouthwash by mixing in water.
Oil Pulling
It is a remedy from ancient times used to relieve pain and cure abscess tooth. It removes the bacterial colonies from the teeth and gums. It reduces the chances of gum pain and minimizes recurrent oral problems. According to American Dental Association, oil pulling can aid with painful gums and reduces the probability of bacteria.
For oil pulling, put two tablespoons of organic coconut oil in mouth and push and pull it between teeth. Keep it squishing for ten minutes, giving more focus to the affected area. Rinse it out and gargle with luke warm water.
Peppermint oil
Peppermint oil can be a practical choice for treating abscess tooth. It has anti-bacterial properties that fight with bacteria and minimizes pain. Apart from abscess tooth, peppermint oil can reduce the yellowness of the teeth.
Peppermint oil can be consumed as the mouthwash to remove tartar. Mix five teaspoons of peppermint and add in one glass of water. Swish it in the affected area for five minutes and rinse with warm water.
